One of the most frequent questions I get is,
“Do you ever get tired of shopping?”
I simply answer that with: “hand me a venti soy latte, keep them coming and there is simply nothing stopping me.”
Bo Derek, American actress said it faultlessly, “Whoever said money can’t buy happiness simply didn’t know where to go shopping”.
The truth is, shopping isn’t as challenging as many of us make it out to be, even jean shopping is easy if you know what to look for. There are no two people who have the same body, the same personal style, the same life style or budget, but it is useful to have guidelines when you are shopping. We don’t go to the grocery store without a plan, so I ask: “why go clothes shopping without a strategy”. Entering a big department store, even a small boutique without knowing what you are looking for and what suits your body can quickly become overwhelming and expensive if you aren’t certain what you are looking for.
Here are some shopping tips that are going to help you to begin shopping with success:
1. Go either by yourself or with one friend. I generally don’t recommend shopping with your partner or friend who is too much of a people pleaser - these people have already gotten over your aesthetic insufficienties are frankly don’t want to hurt your feelings. Go with someone who is honest and has good style themselves.
2. For big purchase avoid shopping on Friday’s, Weekends or from 3:00-5:00pm week days. These are the busiest shopping hours, go during slow times to receive the most amount of assistance from sales associates.
3. Don’t go shopping on a full stomach, have a light snack and bring along a small bottle of water. Trying on clothes when you are full is exhausting and does not help with your body image.
